This book is getting great reviews from clinicians and students of brainwave training. It offers a comprehensive perspective for doing neurofeedback for clinical or personal growth and development. Neurofeedback is presented as the western technological path for growth, integration, and transformation leading to transcendental experience. It presents everyday life as the medium for transformation using the tools of self-analysis with the Interacive Sefl Inventory and self-awareness training with neurofeedback. It is written in easy to understand language so that individuals who are not professionals in the field of neurofeedback can grasp the ideas and concepts involved.
"I was delighted to read Dr. Soutar's book as it provides an insight into aspects of neurofeedback that are unfortunately much neglected in the numerous books pubished so far. I speak with at least some authority as I have been deeply committed to the field of neurofeedback for the past 38 years, have trained thousands of health care professionals and patient/clients as well. Neurofeedback tends to be intimidating to most ordinary people. There are plenty of complex textbooks for professionals some of which I have contributed to. Even the books written for the general public are usually exceedingly complex and focussed very narrowly on what some of us call the high frequency protocols. Dr. soutar has striven to open up to the general public what some call the low frequency or "deep States - meditation/creativity" protocols.
Furthermore, he has done it in a small, easily readable book. It is easy to get ponderously intellectual and complicated about neurofeedback. This is often done by people who do not understand neurofeedback very well and who have no or limited experience either personally or with clients actually working with this scientific art form. Dr. Soutar has an enormous amount of such experience and is a widely respected neurofeedback teacher of mental health professionals. He has a gift for making neurofeedback understandable and practically applicable for professionals and ordinary people as well. I recommend his book to those who want to get a solid insight into both the high frequency and low frequency protocols and why neurofeedback may be one of the greatest breakthroughs in education and mental health in our time. I and many of my colleagues and clients are greatful for this book and look forward to his next effort."
